Measuring satisfaction with K-12 education

No one is satisfied with K-12 education from a national perspective, but locally that is a different story.

Gallup recently released a poll that showed satisfaction with K-12 education tied a record low, 36 percent, last seen in 2000. 

Conversely, 76 percent of school parents were satisfied with their oldest child's education. Gallup reported that there has always been a gap, but it has grown wider.

Axios reported, "Massive School Satisfaction gap pits parents against everyone else."

Does it really? 

No. Gallup asks two different questions and has done so since 1999. They ask a general sample size of Americans if they are satisfied with the quality of K-12 education in the U.S. 

With parents, they ask a specific question of whether they are satisfied with the quality of education of their oldest child. 

Those are two very different questions.
