Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson's confirmation hearing has concluded, what did we learn?
I wanted to write some thoughts about Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson's confirmation hearing that just wrapped up today.
First, these hearings are rarely informational but primarily theater, as I pointed out before. Secondly, we learn more about the Senators asking the questions than we do the appointee. Third, Brown Jackson will be confirmed to the Supreme Court to barring a minor miracle.
She's also not going to change the balance of the court. That's not to say dissents she writes won't be further to the left than Justice Breyer, but she is unlikely to change the outcome of any decision.
