Do I earn more than I'm paid?

President Biden's comment that UAW workers earned more than they are paid is simply wrong.

I will admit I have not followed the autoworker strike in Detroit closely. I have issues with public-sector unions (putting it mildly), but I am not opposed to private sector unions, provided workers have a right to not join.

I'm thankful that Iowa is a right to work state, but I understand the power of workers organizing to join a group that can bargain for better wages and benefits on their behalf. 

President Joe Biden on Tuesday stopped by the picket line and briefly spoke to United Auto Workers (UAW) strikers. 

One thing he said jumped out at me. 

“You deserve what you earned, and you earned a hell of a lot more than what you’re getting paid now.”
