Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, who endorsed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for president, in a post on X, touted his record cutting Florida's debt by 25 percent.
"The National Debt just hit $34 Trillion. @RonDeSantis has cut debt by 25% as Governor," she said. "That’s the leadership we need in Washington!"
That is certainly a commendable aspect to his record and shows a commitment to fiscal discipline as governor. Floridians are better off fiscally in the long run as the state pays down its debt.
The campaign talking point gives me a little heartburn, however, because I think it is an apples to oranges comparison.
